The Story Behind Shanzi Naturals

Where It Started

I’ve loved animals and nature for as long as I can remember and over the years I’ve cared for everything from dogs and cats to birds, rabbits, reptiles, tropical fish and even chipmunks and giant African land snails at one point. Animals have always been a huge part of my life and anyone who knows me knows I’ve always been completely obsessed with them.

Shanzi Naturals really started with my two toy poodles - Tanzi and Shayna.

Like many owners of tiny breeds, I became increasingly cautious about the products I was using on them. Researching small dogs really opened my eyes to how sensitive they can be, especially when it comes to strong flea treatments, Vaccines, heavily fragranced shampoos and unnecessary chemical exposure.

Falling Down The Rabbit Hole

Because toy poodles require regular grooming, I started paying much closer attention to ingredients in pet shampoos, sprays and grooming products. The more I researched, the more I realised how many pet products were packed with unnecessary fillers, harsh ingredients, cheap bulking agents and marketing hype rather than genuinely functional ingredients chosen with purpose.

At first, I was simply trying to make gentler choices for my own dogs, but over time it became a genuine passion for natural pet wellbeing.

As the years went on, I also started noticing how incredibly common health issues had become in modern pets — allergies, itchy skin, digestive problems, recurring ear issues and sensitivities that many owners now almost see as “normal”.

Personally, I believe years of overexposure to harsh chemicals, heavily processed foods and unnecessary ingredients have played a huge role in that. Some breeds are also naturally far more sensitive or predisposed to certain issues than others, which is something we’ve always tried to consider carefully when selecting products for the range.

How Shanzi Naturals Evolved

Although the brand originally started with two tiny dogs in mind, I quickly realised this isn’t just about small breeds. Big dogs, small dogs and cats are all exposed to the same environments, the same products and the same unnecessary ingredients. Every pet deserves thoughtful care and products chosen with purpose.

Over the years, Shanzi Naturals evolved far beyond where it first started. When Georgia became part of the brand, the vision expanded even further through a shared passion for natural pet wellbeing, species-appropriate feeding and a more thoughtful approach to everyday pet care.

Together, we built Shanzi Naturals around the belief that pet wellness should feel simple, honest and purposeful — without unnecessary fillers, gimmicks or overcomplicated marketing.

Today, Shanzi Naturals focuses on everyday wellness and targeted support for dogs and cats of all sizes, including skin and coat care, digestion, mobility, grooming and general wellbeing.

Every product in the range is carefully chosen with functionality, quality and real-life use in mind.

At the heart of it all though, Shanzi Naturals is still about the same thing it was from the beginning — a genuine love for animals and wanting better, gentler options for the pets we treat like family.
